Quartz tiles in the interior: recommendations for selection and design (25 photos)

When choosing a tile for the floor and wall, you often encounter many problems: the quality of the material, durability, and price. For this reason, having entered the shop for finishing materials, you immediately begin to look for the latest innovations in the world of cladding material as the most suitable for the requirements.

The latest know-how among the finishing materials is quartz-vinyl tile; in its immediate purpose it is a facing material for the floor and walls. In addition, it has a fairly wide scope, it can be used when finishing the surfaces of bars, night discos, in stores, in the office, in the apartment and other rooms, as well as in rooms with high humidity, for example, in the bathroom.

Laying of quartz tiles is made both on a wooden floor and on a concrete surface.

The surface drawing of the tile makes it possible to imitate various types of design: marble walls, wooden floor and other ceramic coatings. The structure of the quartz vinyl tile includes river sand and shell rock. Both of these materials account for up to seventy percent of the total; PVC is used as a binding element.

The use of river sand in the structure of the tile is due to the fact that it lends itself to a more thorough cleaning of impurities. In fact, a mixture of PVC, river sand, shell rock form a heterogeneous material consisting of several layers. To give a higher strength, the tile is covered with fiberglass, after which the resulting composition is hot-pressed to form a single whole material.

Positive side of quartz vinyl tile

Like all cladding materials, quartz vinyl tile has its pros and cons. The positive side of the tile can be called its unique hardness and wear resistance. During heat treatment, the material is compacted so that it can withstand the pressure of the mass of the car. The maximum service life of the material is twenty-five years.

The second positive quality is the use of additional material of polyvinyl chloride.

Due to the chemical compound, the tile to the touch becomes warmer, that is, there is virtually no feeling of coldness from the floor.

The third positive aspect of the product is its environmental friendliness. As mentioned earlier, the structure of the tile consists of natural components. The chemical used polyvinyl chloride is a safe material, and as evidence of its safety, examples of its use in the production of food bags, in children's toys, in medical equipment can be given. Thanks to harmless materials, harmful chemical compounds are not released from the tile even under the influence of high temperature.

The fourth positive factor of quartz vinyl tile is resistance to any chemical compounds, as well as fire resistance: the tile in its composition does not contribute to the spread of fire, when exposed to an open flame does not emit toxins. Such positive qualities as fire protection and long service life are quite possible to equate to the product's advantages.

In addition to this, in case of abrupt temperature changes in the room, the installation of quartz-vinyl tile is not disturbed by the appearance of gaps between the laid elements. All this allows laying tiles in rooms with constantly changing temperature conditions, as well as close to objects built into the interior of the room, such as plumbing, columns, walls, etc.

The main advantage of the tile is its interchangeability, i.e. damaged tiles are easy to remove and install new ones. Also quartz vinyl tile does not conduct electric current, which allows its use over electrical wires.

The disadvantages of quartz tiles

Among the shortcomings in the operation and installation are the following:

  • It is not recommended to lay tiles on an open concrete surface without heating, because it becomes colder.
  • To glue the tiles you can not use cement mortar, for this purpose use a special glue.
  • Before laying the tile, the base of the surface requires an ideal flatness, since due to the small thickness of the material all surface drops will be visible.
  • During operation between the tiles can form gaps.

Laying quartz tiles

Tile laying even for an inexperienced specialist does not cause difficulties, installation is performed by gluing or joining the lock. The rest of the technology coincides with the laying of ceramic tiles.

First you need to prepare the flooring. The surface is cleaned of various kinds of pollution, you should also align the curvature of the floor (it should be remembered that the quartz vinyl floor tile does not like drops, they are immediately visible when installing the tile).

It is possible to lay tiles on different types of surfaces: concrete, wood, tile, as long as the surface is cleaned (it can also be treated with a primer) and dry by the time of installation.

To level the floor, you can resort to the following method: if the floor is concrete, pour self-leveling solution, then while it is still slightly dried, wipe the screed with a plastering sponge to make it smooth.

The wooden coating is covered with sheets of plywood or chipboard. Then grind the joints of the sheets so that there are no differences.

Having prepared the surface, it is necessary to make a breakdown of the room, the main thing is to determine the center of the room. The breakdown is made into four equal sectors, since the installation will subsequently be carried out according to them.

According to the laying method, two types of tile installation can be distinguished: adhesive and glueless (the latter is used if quartz vinyl tile with a lock joint). The locking system on the tile is similar to the system installed on the laminate. Joining of elements is performed with the help of locks before the click. A tile with such a laying system has several advantages, it can be easily dismantled when a defect appears and re-installed.

When laying the usual tiles use adhesive composition, contact or dispersion. It is applied to the floor in a fan-shaped manner, evenly, from the far corner to the door. After one layer is applied, a lining strip is laid, and another layer of glue is subsequently applied. The second layer is given time to dry for about ten minutes, the glue should start to set.

The process of laying tiles produced from the center of the room and diverge on the sides. The tile keeps within from itself. The laid part of the tile is rolled on top. You need to make sure that there are no gaps between the tiles, they can increase in the future. After it is necessary to remove excess glue that has protruded to the surface, they are easily erased with ethyl alcohol.

After laying, you can immediately walk on the tile, furniture and other heavy things can be put no earlier than six days.
