Windows in an apartment or house - the most important part, emphasizing the architectural concept and style of any building. This element is characterized by high functionality and pronounced aesthetic qualities. From time to time wooden window frames need restoration.
Today, houses and apartments are landscaped with windows made of wood and plastic. On the balcony and loggia, you can use several types of materials. It would seem that the easiest way to restore the painted surfaces of wooden structures, however, in order to get a really good result, it is important to approach this issue with full responsibility.
How to paint plastic windows
Many people mistakenly assume that it is possible to paint the windows with a wooden frame, and plastic will never be able to transform into a different color. In fact, it is quite possible to give the standard white plastic windows a different, more original shade.
Not only the aesthetics of the window structures and the facade of the house as a whole, but also the operational characteristics of the windows will depend on whether the painting process will be carried out correctly. So, in order to paint the plastic window frames, you need the following set of tools:
- Building level;
- Putty knife.
The PVC profile should be perfectly clean, smooth and dry. Before painting the slopes and the structure itself, the remnants of glue, dust, crumbs, fragments of protective film are removed from the windows. If the color is planned to be applied selectively, the fragments, which should remain intact, are pre-glued.
The next stage is getting rid of fat and static on the surface of PVC products. In a specialty store, you can purchase a cleaner designed specifically for working with plastic. The surfaces are thoroughly wiped. Then allow the residue of the substance to evaporate. Now you can proceed to staining.
Wood is not much easier to paint than plastic. Especially if the surface was painted before more than once. It is also very difficult to work with old frames or radically change the color of the window (for example, from white to brown).
The tree is particularly sensitive to changes in humidity and temperature. It is better to paint wooden windows 1 - 2 times a year. This is the best option.
Quality paint for windows must meet the following requirements:
- Moisture resistance (the coloring composition protects the wood structure from high humidity, leading to the formation of fungi, mold and rot);
- Elasticity (the paint should cover the surface of the wooden frame so that during drying or swelling the wood does not change its appearance and does not violate the integrity).
When choosing a coloring matter, one should take into account the species of the tree itself, as well as the climatic features. For example, the oil composition is suitable for a mild climate. If the wood is rather weak with a fragile structure, the paint is also supplemented with a protective varnish.
Very old wooden windows should preferably be treated with gloss enamel. Usually it is weather resistant. The composition can be used for painting surfaces in the room, and for work on the street.
