Dekol is a drawing on ceramic, glass and porcelain products of various images. Decal technology is widely used in the promotional industry. Most often logos and advertisements are applied on glasses, plates, cups and other dishes.
The technology "decal" almost completely replaced the complex process of hand drawing on dishes. With this method, realistic images with a clear drawing are made.
Decal on circles in the form of a logo can be an excellent marketing ploy of the company. Mugs with a logo in the decal technique can be a wonderful gift for partners. Impressions from the success of the company are enhanced in the restaurant, where the plates appear with unobtrusive inscription.
Hot decal is different in that the organic substances contained in the paint burn down during firing, the mineral pigments remain on the dishes, forming a strong image. The drawings made in this way are preserved for a long time, almost not amenable to mechanical stress.
At the beginning of the process, special stencils are made for each color. After that, the gummed paper material is pressed through the right ink and dried. After applying the required colors, the picture is covered with colorless varnish and dries for almost a day. After drying, the paper becomes wet in water, tightly pressed against the dish and separated from the "picture". It is necessary to separate very carefully so that bubbles or irregularities that spoil the application do not appear. Then the finished products are dried and fired in muffle furnaces. Dekoli application - technology is complex, long and laborious.
Advantages of hot decals
The type of application by decal is not cheap, but it has many advantages:
- Stable image. When the products are fired, the paint is baked into the upper layer of dishes, which makes the application lasting. The disadvantage is that the products with the decal can not be washed in a dishwasher or used to wash the products with abrasive.
- The possibility of applying visual special effects. There are few colors in the ceramic palette, high temperatures during firing further limit saturation, therefore some deviation from color is possible. Since ceramic paints do not have saturation, they are applied twice or a substrate is applied. Decolating allows you to apply visual techniques. For example, gold is applied to glossy products; matte surfaces can be coated with a flux that makes a glossy picture.
- Large image area. Smooth or cylinder-shaped surfaces can be covered almost completely. If the dishes have a curvature, additional processing is required.
It is not allowed to put the image inside the glasses or mugs or on the very edge of the product, as there are paints with an oxide content, therefore, they should not touch food or lips.
Thanks to the latest technology, spreading the image not only on the dishes. Now it is possible to decolate on mobile phones, flash drives, plastic products and even on nails. The cold decal is doing just that.
Sliding or cold decal is carried out first as well as classic hot decal. The paper with the picture gets wet in the water, the image is also peeled off and placed on the object, dried and a UV varnish or spray is applied to it, fixing it. It is very important that there is no water under the picture. In this case, with proper care of the dishes image stability will be long.
Cold decal is used when printing patterns on the surface that do not withstand high temperatures. Pictures are fixed on objects by means of low temperature organic paints, which are highly resistant to abrasion. Using this method, for example, circles are produced with varying color when heated. Of course, hot decal is superior in stability to cold, but the cost of the second type of finish is much lower than that produced by hot.
Drawing the original colorful image in the form of logos is a great advertisement for any company. Use decal on glass and decal on porcelain can be used for branding various items. Full-color images on plates, mugs, glasses, glasses, ashtrays and other objects are also ordered by private individuals to make an unusual original gift to loved ones.
